Week 9 - Statement planning

Working on my 100 word statement. Will probably write about how we had to make these models at home with limited materials and how I am conveying what I made.

Week 8 - Photoshopped models

For this Photoshop, I've used the model that I created in Fusion 360. It is a very modern design, architecturally, and this has sparked my thought process in what materials I would use in my three designs. I thought it would be interesting to show how houses have developed through the times to what we are currently seeing. It is intriguing how the common building has changed with the developments in knowledge, technology, and societal ideals.

THE TUDOR ERA STYLE

The red wood, stone base, and old roof tiles accompanied by the style of door and window frames were common throughout this period.

THE 1930s STYLE

The most popular style was houses with mostly brick, mixed with other materials, shown here with a cream wall. The roofs had clay tiles and homes were often two-storey-ed.

THE CONTEMPORARY STYLE

The house of the "now". Architects and builders are increasingly experimenting with different materials and shapes to create bold, sleek designs far from the ones of the past.

Week 8 - Initials material rendering

My inspiration for the three designs of my model come from the natural environment. All three landscapes hold good memories and are also aesthetically stunning.

1. The Beach

There is the water of the ocean in the middle faces, sand on the bottom ones, and sea foam at the very top. This design also coincidentally resembles a fish or dolphin, which acts as a whimsical and relevant effect.

2. The Forest

Leaves are shown at the top, following an undeniably realistic leaf like shape with holes as well (perhaps symbolising that not everything has to be perfect). Then the trunk of the tree, for stability and structure, and the dirt, from which everything evolves from.

3. The Snow

This one is perhaps a bit more abstract, portraying snow and ice in different forms. The hexagonal pattern embodies the physical structure of each snowflake and the smooth sides showing them as a whole. The thin strips in one of the upper regions act as icicles and the floor is the snow once it has been disrupted by humans and animals.

Hope you enjoyed seeing them as much as I did making them. :)
